VW Schwimmwagen Typ 166

Year: 1942
Power: 25 PS
Capacity: 1131 ccm
Engine: 4 cyl Boxer

The VW amphibious car Type 166 with all wheel drive, built from 1941, was derived from the legendary VW bucket car Type 82.

Since its small draught permitted to cross calm waters only, however, the cars was almost exclusively used on land.

There the all wheel drive, the ample ground clearance and the smooth under body gave it enormous cross country capabilities.

It is powered by an air cooled 1.1 litres / 4 cylinder boxer engine with 25 hp.
