With 7up as a sponsor the Irishman Eddie Jordan joined the formula 1 in 1991.
When their Belgian driver Bertrand Gachot was arrested after assaulting a cabby, Jordan was looking for a substitute pilot for the Grand Prix of Belgium.
This way Michael Schumacher got his first chance and in the training runs, right away, suceeded in finishing among the Top 10.
In the race itself a defect in the material forced Schmacher to give up after a few meters.
But this impressive performance helped him to win a contract with benetton.
