Maserati 250F

Year: 1956
Power: 280 PS
Capacity: 2500 ccm
Engine: 6 cyl

The Maserati 250F was built from 1954 until 1958 and was one of the best and long lived Formula 1 cars of Grand Prix history.

Originally Maserati had planned the car only for private drivers.

Since the financial and technical resources of private teams were limited the car had to be designed in a simple fashion.

First the 250F was referred to as 6C2500.

After the first test drivers it was renamed 250F with the number 250 standing for displacement of 2,500 cc and the F meaning Formula.

The basis of the 250F was the Masserati A6GCM.

In 1954 stirling Moss competed as private driver in the world championship with a 250F for almost the whole season.

In 1956 stirking Moss, now factory driver with Maserati, won the Grand Prix of Monaco and the Grand Prix of Italy at the Monza high speed racing track.

In 1957 Juan Manuel Fangio became Formula 1 world champion with a 250F.
