Bugatti 57 Ventoux

Year: 1935
Power: 135 PS
Capacity: 3257 ccm
Engine: 8 Cyl

The Bugatti Type 57 was last Bugatti to be produced on a large scale.

It shows the hand of Jean Bugatti, the talented son of Ettore Bugatti, who had taken the firm's fortune in his hands as of 1936.

An essential novelty was that, with the Type 57, Bugatti concentrated on one basic model which he offered in varying body versions.

Besides, the firm also sold chassis and engine only, which were then completed by other manufacturers.

The body of the car shown here is, however a company made body designed by Jean Bugatti.

Production of the Type 57 was a creation by Jean Bugatti which was also to become fateful for him.

On occasion of tests of a modified sports version with a supercharged engine in the year 1939, he drove off the road and suffered a fatal accident.
