During the early years of the German economic miracle the Heinkel Tourist scooter with 4 stroke engine was one of the most popular means of transportation.
Many who could not afford a car yet and didn't want to buy one of the usual scooters with 1 stroke engine and neither moped or a motorcycle decided in favor of a Heinkel Tourist.
The German Postal Service bought around 100 units, amongst others for delivering telegrams.
Their usability was expanded by a trailer especially developed for emptying letterboxes, which could be placed directly under the letterbox.
