Maybach SW 38

The SW 38 was the last but one Maybach-model.

It was first market in 1936 and replaced the SW 35.

The displacement was bored and stroked to 3,8 l, in order to compensate the deterioring quality of gasoline, not to increase the output of the engine.

In 1941, motorcar manufacturing was discontinued in favor of war production.

Car building was not taken up again after the war.

Maybach continued motor manufacturing and was incorpotated in the MTU Friedrichshafen GmbH in 1965.
